Climate Justice - Faithfully Responding

We are called to live with respect in creation—not respect "for" creation, as a separate entity—but respect "in" the creation that is all around and within us. As temperatures rise and weather becomes more destructive, as vulnerable regions become more vulnerable, and the call to live into reconciliation rings out, how can we faithfully respond?

Faith Leaders on Climate Change

United Church partner Citizens for Public Justice is coordinating a petition to tell government that Canadian faith communities support strong federal leadership on climate change. Add your voice before the February 29, 2016 deadline.

Climate Justice & Alternative Investments

GC42 voted to divest from the top 200 fossil fuel companies. Visit Trinity-St. Paul’s United Church (Toronto) website for a variety of resources about Alternative Investment. They are in the process of developing a digital tool on Climate Justice to help congregations at different stages of the divestment journey.

Education for Reconciliation

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission calls for mandatory education on Indigenous history and culture for all K-12 students in Canada. Join the KAIROS Education for Reconciliation campaign to make it happen in your province/territory. Petitions due by March 15, 2016.

Black Peoples in the United Church

Black History Month in February is a perfect time to use Sankofa, a DVD that introduces the diverse histories and heritages of Black peoples in the United Church. It features little-known facts about the United Church and helps viewers discover connections between faith, identity, and culture.

A multi-faith consortium, Fossil Free Faith works to support and engage faith communities who are committed to climate action, especially around fossil fuel divestment and clean energy reinvestment.

Black Canadian HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

The 2nd annual African, Caribbean and Black Canadian HIV/AIDS Awareness Day took place on February 7, 2016. This day raises awareness of HIV and contributes to addressing HIV-related stigma in Canada's African, Caribbean and Black communities. What can you do to show your support?
