캐나다는 전통적으로 천연자원과 농업을 기반으로 하는 국가이고 더우기 알버타는 오일 생산에 차질이 생길 경우 그간 쌓아온 경제 기반이 무너질 수 밖에 없는 구조를 가지고 있기에 아래에 기술된 내용은 매우 첨예한 논쟁을 불러일으킬 수 있는 이슈 입니다.

The National Energy Board has been holding hearings into two pipelines—TransMountain and Energy East—that will carry oil from the oil sands. Natural Resources Minister Jim Carr and Environment and Climate Change Minister Catherine McKenna have announced interim measures to supplement these hearings.

Moderator Jordan Cantwell wrote to Minister Carr recently “to express concerns about the Energy East and Trans Mountain pipelines with specific reference to Canada’s relationship with Indigenous peoples and our commitment to address global climate change.”   Add your voice to the Moderator’s by calling on the government to Honour Indigenous Rights and Climate Commitments.   Other Actions You Can Take for Climate Justice  THE PEOPLE'S CLIMATE PLAN   In May and June 2016, Members of Parliament will hold climate consultations across the country.
